Representations on New Local Plan Options - Sub Regional Centre

Representation ID: 3504

SUPPORT Mrs Charlotte Johnston

Summary:

Market Harborough is an important sub-regional centre for surrounding villages, but access to its facilities from the east (eg Great Easton) is restricted to access by car due to lack of appropriate public transport links.

Representation ID: 2503

SUPPORT Jo Brodrick

Summary:

Whilst Market Harborough can sustain some growth and benefits from good rail links - roads are at times gridlocked and significant investment is required to manage traffic flow more effectively. Bus routes to the developing town of Corby are poor and public transport costs expensive meaning a high level of car ownership and usage. This needs to be factored into a town wide strategy.

SUPPORT Andrew Granger & Co (Mr Fritz Graves) represented by Andrew Granger & Co (Mr Fritz Graves)

Summary:

As the largest town in the District Market Harborough is extremely well placed to accommodate major housing, employment, and community infrastructure. The attractiveness and vibrancy of the town, as a place to live and work must be sustained and maintained.

COMMENT LUBENHAM Parish Council (Mrs Diana Cook)

Summary:

Harborough already has considerable expansion proposed within the currently allocated SDA with Business growth areas also allocated. Whilst it may be considered as a Sub regional centre, the integration of these large developments is necessary before further development is proposed so as not to put undue pressure on infrastructure until work is completed. Why is Lutterworth not defined as a sub regional centre - it equally has a good range of shops which could be improved if it were categorised differently.

COMMENT LUBENHAM Parish Council (Mrs Diana Cook)

Summary:

Lutterworth seems to fit the criteria of a Sub regional centre.
