Representations on New Local Plan Options - Principal Urban Area (PUA)
OBJECT THURNBY AND BUSHBY Parish Council (Mrs S Bloy)
The Parish Council is concerned at the emphasis being placed on 'edge of Leicester settlements'; 'sustainable urban extensions'; and, the placing of the PUA at the top of Harborough's Settlement Hierarchy. Surely HDC should be protecting the make-up of the District and not allowing the absorption of key village settlements into the City of Leicester. The proximity to the City of Leicester is by no means the only measure of sustainability. It is difficult to see the benefits that the proposed relief road will provide. Rather it will redirect traffic through the heart of the settlement including the Conservation Area.
OBJECT Mrs Gloria Uhegwu
The number of housing unit proposed for Scraptoft is rather too much and would creat a lot of congestion, which we are already countering on a daily basis. Moreover, there are not enough to local amenities to accommodate such large scale housing.
The transport facility is currently in dire straits and to had more dwelling would cause untold amount to problem.
SUPPORT Bloor Home Ltd represented by Define (Mr Mark Rose)
Support for the role of the LPUA at the top of the settlement hierarchy as it is the most sustainable capable location for accommodating development.
SUPPORT Jo Brodrick
Close proximity to Leicester City means this area should be a focus of development to meet the needs of those wishing to move out of the city but remain close for work and education opportunities.
SUPPORT LUBENHAM Parish Council (Mrs Diana Cook)
SUPPORT Andrew Granger & Co (Mr Fritz Graves) represented by Andrew Granger & Co (Mr Fritz Graves)
We support the inclusion and recognition of Thurnby and Bushby, Scraptoft within the PUA. The settlements are physically well related to the urban area of Leicester City and are capable of accommodating further housing and community infrastructure.
